The Woodmont Men’s Twilight League, a Spring/Summer celebration of fun golf and fine eating, will be held Wednesday night’s this year starting on May 20th through June 24th. Sign ups are open through the Woodmont Website or by calling the golf shop.
As has become the tradition in this Woodmont golf league, you pick your partner and are placed on one of five teams-which includes a professional captain-for a series of 9-Hole best ball matches over six weeks. Playing with 80% of your course handicap, each match is worth 9 points as you accumulate totals for your team. There are sweeps prizes each week and and overall team winners for the whole shooting match.
Matches begin each Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. with a shotgun start. As an added bonus there are 50 Keeper’s Kup Points for every weekly match you win and 25 for every match you tie. This is a proven way to sneak up the Keepers Kup Standings under the radar.
Best part is that no matter how bad you play you still get the delectable buffet dinner which covers the full gamut of your culinary favorites. Don’t miss out of the fun, sign up while there is still space for the Men’s Twilight League.
The Courthouse Winds were up for Northern Exposure, the 2015 Woodmont Par Three Tournament, contested today by 100 men and women over a 2041 Yard Par 54 track designed by D & D & W Associates. 33 Keepers were part of the kompetion which was played as a Step-Back Scramble for both Gross and Net Prizes.
The Keepers team of Rusty “Joe D” Minkoff, Alan “The Hanging Judge” Levine, and Jim “Boom Boom” Polsky torched the field with both the low gross and low net scores for the day with 46 and 40.9 respectively. As you can imagine they were hitting it close and making the putts with 8 birdies over the 18 holes. In the post game interview Joe D said they were never close to making a bogie getting top performances throughout their line up. As you can see, our flag was well represented as three other teams with Keepers finished in the money.
Impact to the Keepers Kup Standings was significant as the top five net finishing scores with Keepers on the squad shared the Kup Points. The standings through two events can be viewed by clicking the Keepers Kup Standings link to the right.
1st Low Net: Rusty Minkoff, Alan Levine, and Jim Polsky 300 points per man
2nd Low Net: Mike Fisher 200 points
3rd Low Net: Richard Goldstein and Rich Sussman 150 points per man
4th Low Net: Moe Dweck, Keith Eig, and Rick Brecher 100 points per man
5th Low Net: Arthur Blitz, Paul Cohen, Neal Bobys, and Ken Brooks
With a strong field of 40 Keepers and 10 Pro Avatars the Keepers Pro-Schmo kicked off Season 8 with style. Playing a virtual best ball with their Pro Avatar’s score from Master’s Sunday it took net birdies and eagles by the Keepers to end up at the top of the scoreboard.
The kompetition was keen this year and it took net 58’s from Craig “A New Broom Sweeps Clean” Goodman and Rory McIlroy and Phil “The Hammer” Malet and Rickie Fowler to claim the top prize. Craig helped Rory’s 65 with 6 net birdies and a net eagle to reach their 58. Phil added 4 net birdies, a net eagle, and a couple of crucial pars when Rickie had bogies to get them to the magic 58. Wearing his Saturday black, Rich “Kojak” Greenberg teamed with Ian Poulter for a net 59 to take third place. Tied for fourth place was Tom “Burn Notice” Burne who shot 36 on his own ball before relying on Jordan Spieth to carry them home along with Paul “PC” Cohen who made net eagles on #3 and #16 teaming with Hideki Matsuyama for net 60’s. Check out the Keepers Pro-Schmo Results link below to see the full field results.
In the separate Players Pool Kash Kompetition which was a Stapleford Net Pars Or Better on The Keepers ball the Keepers raised the first $360 for this year’s contribution to the Folds of Honor Foundation and SMGA/Wounded Warriors organization. Burne Notice dominated the field with 15 of his 24 points on the front nine besting Rick “I Know What To Do With My Shots” Cohen who had two net eagles and three net birdies on his way to second with 20 points. Tied third were Rusty “Where Have You Gone Joe Dimaggio” Minkoff and Kojak with 19 points each. The payouts and full results of the Player’s Pool are linked below.
The Keepers welcome Assistant Professional Conner Farrell as the new Keeper’s Staff Shepard for 2015. He will find that herding kats is no easy business.
