With the play-Ins and four rounds of matches in the books what started with 73 Keepers kontesting has reached the dramatic stage of the Final Fore. Now the real fun begins as Mike “Coach” Fisher, Marc “Newish In This Neighborhood” Birnbaum, Rich “Kojak” Greenberg, and Herbie “Check Out My New Driver” Kushner play for the cherished Match Play Plaque, more Kup Points, and a slew of Kash Sweeps in the Final Fore.
The kompetition has been fierce as only one #1 Seed has made it through to the Final Fore. A demolition derby since the outset, many of the regulars who go deep in this event have found themselves calling for Roadside Assistance, casualties of the lose one-and-be done format. The reigning champ is back in the semi-finals but not without a scare or two.
The Quarterfinal matches were all spirited games with plenty of fireworks. Three matches got to the last hole or beyond. Fisher beat Herbie Cherner in 19 holes, Kushner beat Moe Mishner in the same. Birnbaum outlasted Steve Gordon winning on the last hole 2-up (that was after Gordon holed it from 135 out on #15 for eagle!). Greenberg took Steve Lustgarten 4 & 3 according to Reuters.
Beyond winning more points for each match the spoils from here in are:
1st Place Keepers Match Play Plaque $300 Kash Sweeps
Runner-Up Keepers Kissing Your Sister Plaque $150 Kash Sweeps
Other Two $100 Kash Sweeps
Congratulations to the “Survivors”….play hard gentlemen this is about Keepers pride!
