Keepers Kup Finale 2015-Results
The sun was shining brightly, the course was playing hard and fast, and the scores for most of the field in this year’s Keepers Kup Finale were…..how shall I put it …..not so good.
Yet there were some outstanding performances by a number of guys in pursuit of the kovetted Kopper Kup. In the end Rich “The Bald Brother” Greenberg added the Keepers Kup to his Lead Dog Trophy he already had secured for 2015 with a net 73 and a T-3rd in the Finale Event.
His Keepers Kup Standings total of 3425 at the end of the day was a solid 400ish points clear of the challenging field. Coupled with his brother Don “Not The Bald Brother” Greenberg’s recent victory with Rick Brecher in the Keepers Alternate Shot Series, golf historians down the road may be bookmarking this as the beginning of the era of “Greenberg Domination”.

The shooting stars for the Finale Event had to be Steve “Your Are Not In Kansas Anymore” Keller and Mike “Coach” Fisher who lapped the field with their outstanding play today. Fisher who has already won the Championship Flight in the Freudberg and accomplished rare Two-Peat in winning the Keepers Match Play for the second consecutive year shot an extremely capable 71 net 69 to take second in the Finale Event and move from 10th to 6th in the Final Keepers Kup Standings. As you can see below this represented separation from the field.

Keller has experienced quantum leaps downward in his handicap index through the year. At 12.9 he has established himself as a solid American Leaguer playing arguably the best golf of his career. On Saturday he rode steady driving and approach play and a white hot putter to break 80 for the first time shooting 79 net 65. 8 pars and 3 birdies were just a virtuoso performance to watch. Most impressively after a sloppy double on the 6th hole (his 15th of the day) he had sand save for par on 7, an improbable 45 foot from off the green on 8 go in for birdie, and a clutch up-and-down from 75 yards out on the 9th to close the round on one of the hardest stretches of holes on our course. For his effort the Country Dentist got the Silver Kup for winning the Finale and moved from 11th to 2nd in the Final Keepers Kup Standings.

Charity is always the beneficiary of our events and 35 Keepers came out to play in today’s Finale and help raise another $520 toward our annual donation to the Folds of Honor Foundation, SMGA/Wounded Warriors, and the Israeli Defense Forces Veterans bringing our total to over $3500 for the year. Thanks to all who have participated in these fund raising efforts.
