Keepers Five Club 2018
Next up for The Keepers is our slightly reinvented 5-Club event on Wednesday evening May 9th. With after work Tee Times from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., this is a 9-hole event where you play the front of the North with five clubs of your choice….and yes the putter is one of the five, unless you intend to “Keith” or “Billy” putt with your Sand Iron or Driver respectively.
But there is a twist…..there is always a twist. The course on which you will kompete is a variegated set of tees we affectionately call the “Keepers Kourse”. The play from these diabolically selected tees make negotiation shot sequence a bit unfamiliar, to say the least.
For example, you will play #1 on the North from the Blue Tee at 395 yards, #2 from the White Tee at 145, #5 as a Par 4 from the White Tee at 380, #8 from the White Tee at 285, and the home hole, #9, from the Qualifier Tee just inside I-270 as a five par at 440 yards. Those players who kualify for the Green Tee Option will play the same course but with a shorter selection of tees.

The distance adjustment caused by varying teeing position puts a whole new spin on picking your clubs of the day. Do my club choices cover the two par threes (from tees that I am not used to)…..Do I need driver now since I am playing the tips on some holes and the forward tees on others…..do I really need a putter or can I putt with a field club…..what do I do if I hit it in a sand trap?
All good questions that a thoughtful Keeper must konsider.
This is always a fun event and your kreative planning on the clubs that will accompany you for the round will be kritical.
Through the two links below you can get a printable scorecard, with all the details, to facilitate proper planning and maybe some practice play in preparation for the event. If you kualify for the Green Tee/Rule 92 Option make sure to pick the proper link for that card.
